Thankfully, between paper shredding sales calls, we were able to catch up with Kevin who answered a few of our wacky questions.
Interview with Kevin Geerts:
Do you have any nicknames?
No, I actually do not have any nicknames. Those closest to me will shorten Kevin to “Kev”, but that is as exciting as it gets.
Favorite Sports Teams?
My favorite sports team is definitely the University of Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball program! As the winningest team in NCAA college basketball, how can you not root for them, right?
Why do you love working for Allshred Services?
Allshred Services is the largest, independently-owned document destruction in the nation. A company does not grow to that stature without great leadership, great people, and excellent customer service. Their track record and growth speak for themselves! Knowing I represent Allshred Services not only brings pride, but assurance in knowing that we are always going to do right by our customers. Since being employed by Allshred Services, I have been treated tremendously, trained well, and equipped in order to excel in my role.
What is the best part about working in the document destruction industry?
As I began to understand the strong importance of keeping individuals, and companies, sensitive information secure by proper destruction, my belief in what the document destruction industry as a necessity (for security and compliance), rather than a commodity, went sky high. With that said, the best part is taking the time to get to know my customer’s needs for document destruction, and then working with them to provide the best possible solution for providing value, and securely destroying their sensitive information. This brings peace of mind to the customer, and takes the mundane, productivity-killing, task of paper shredding off their plate. In result, satisfaction comes with meeting the customer’s needs!
What is the one major thing that you do to set you apart from the competition?
I will always take the time, and the necessary steps, to develop rapport, and a relationship with my customers. It is not just about making a sale. It is certainly not always about what’s most convenient. It is about asking enough questions to determine my customer’s needs, and then (most importantly) following through on the promises. Sometimes, the customer’s needs are different than originally understood. That is okay. The sell may be less, or it may be more, but I am confident in doing right by the customer, which leads to repeat business, and referrals! It’s not about me, and it’s not even about Allshred Services, it is about the customer.
If you could be any animal, what would it be and why?
This is an interesting question. If I could be any animal I would have to choose an eagle. Why? Well, they can fly, so that’s a no-brainer. Additionally, when I think of leadership, I think of the eagle. They are known for their incredible vision, their fearlessness, and their tenacious approach.
What was the last book you read?
The last book I read was “All In” by Mark Batterson.
Any quotes or exciting things you’d like to add?
“When winning increases, learning decreases; but if learning decreases, soon, winning will also decrease.” John C. Maxwell.
“Sometimes your win, sometimes you learn.” – John C. Maxwell
I am a firm believer that we should always be learning, and that applied knowledge is the best teacher. Everyone is our superior in some way, shape, or form; so learn from all people. All the things we desire to know have been written; so seek out the information.
