Allshred Services was awarded a safety grant from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation for a Dust Collection System. This Dust Collection System cuts down on the amount of dust that is sent into the air through the document destruction process. This makes for a much safer work environment for all of our staff. We are always looking for ways to improve upon our processes and procedures to make for a better workplace for our employees.
A 5” dust capture hood has been installed over each of the 90 degree transfer points as well as at the shredder discharge conveyor on the first shredder. The Twin City Fan being used has a 20 HP motor. The 6 filter bags are each 24” in diameter and 12’ long. The filter system is designed for each of the pickups to have a velocity of 5000 FPM to evacuate the dust to the filter. The air to filter cloth ratio is 9:1. Each bag is equipped with a zippered bottom for periodic dust removal.
