Erie Community Federal Credit Union began as the “Ford Employees Credit Union “ in the basement of a home in Sandusky, Ohio. The Credit Union received its charter on September 25, 1958 as the “Ford Sandusky Employees Federal Credit Union.” We obtained our federal charter in September, 1958. In 1960, the Credit Union was renamed as “Reserve Federal Credit Union”. In 2001, we became a community chartered Credit Union, and membership was opened to anyone who lived, worked, worshiped or attended school in Erie County; and our name emerged as Erie Community Federal Credit Union.
Erie Community believes its members are the driving force for change. To better serve its current members and to offer its financial services to new members, office locations were opened at 2402 University Dr.,E., Huron, Ohio in June,2003 and 4416 Milan Road (Route 250) in October, 2009. The third location is our drive-thru branch at Tiffin Ave., Sandusky.
Credit unions are democratic, financial cooperatives, owned by their members. Ohio credit unions serve approximately 2.6 million members. Federal Credit Unions are closely supervised and regulated by the National Credit Union Administration. Credit Unions are committed to making financial services accessible and affordable and to serving local communities.
Erie Community also has many branches across the country as a member of the Shared Branching network. The Shared Branching Network has given credit union members the opportunity to perform financial transactions at other credit unions in other locations wherever they work, vacation, or attend school.
Erie Community has been providing financial services to members for fifty-one years.
We are proud of our beginnings and our growth and the Credit Union philosophy, “People helping People.”

Security Tip of the Month
Keep a "clean" e-mail address
When mailing to unknown parties; mailing lists, chat rooms and other public spaces on the internet; or publishing a web page that mentions your e-mail address, it is best to do this from a "side" account, or simply an alternate e-mail address. Use your main or preferred address only on small, members-only lists with known, trusted individuals. You may find it works best to use an e-mail package that allows multiple user ID's and addresses so that you do not have to switch between multiple programs to managemore than one email address.
Addresses that are posted in public spaces can be easily discovered by spammers and added to their list of targets.
